Recipe: Pork Ribs in Yellow Bean Sauce

Serve as a starter or with other dishes as a main meal.  This dish is best cooked in the oven or in a slow cooker.  If cooking in a slow cooker, do not add extra 185ml of water. Cut large ribs into 2 or 3 pieces using a cleaver. Alternatively, look out for shorter ribs, sold in many supermarkets.

1 jar (185ml) Wing Yip Yellow Bean Sauce
2 tsp minced garlic paste (or use fresh)
2 tsp minced ginger (or use fresh)
2 tbsp peanut or vegetable oi

Cooking Method

Serves 2

Place pork ribs in a pan of water and bring to the boil. Cook uncovered for approximately 10 minutes and drain.

Heat oil in a large wok and fry minced garlic and ginger. Do not allow to burn.

Add spare ribs and mix in the Wing Yip Yellow Bean Sauce.Fill sauce jar with equal amount of water and add this to the wok.

Cover and braise ribs slowly. At this stage you may place in a oven proof casserole dish and cook ribs in the oven.

If you choose to cook in the wok, keep adding water and cook slowly for approximately 40 minutes or until ribs are tender.
