Recipe: Fried Rice

The 'secret ingredient' in this dish is teh sauce the rice is fried in. We have used frozen prawns becuase they are easily available, but do use fresh if you prefer. Feel free to replace the prawns with sliced chicken.


400g cold cooked rice
1 medium onion - finely chopped
2 tbsp Wing Yip Fried Rice Sauce (adjust to taste)
170g cooked prawns (defrosted)
2 tbsp cooked peas
1 egg - cook into an omelette and cut into strips
3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp crispy fried onions (optional)

Cooking Method

Serves 2

Heat the vegtetable oil in a wok and fry the onions until they are soft.

Now add the cooked rice and stir well.

Add the Fried Rice Sauce and stir-fry for about 3 minutes.

Add peas and continue frying, add a little water into the wok if the rice becomes too dry.

Add the defrosted (and drained) prawns and cook until hot.

Season to tase and then spoon onto a large platter and garnish with omelette strips and crispy onions.


Hints and Tips:
Rice fries better if cooled completed. Add a little water to the rice to spearate the grains if it is a little lumpy. The water in the rice will evaporate on frying.
