Mai Siam - Thai Pastes and Sauces (22nd Oct 2007)
“The ‘Mai Siam’ or ‘Siamese Silk’ range of sauces and pastes comes to you directly from Thailand. They have been developed over many generations in traditional family kitchens since the introduction to Thailand of coconut milk & chilli in the 13th and 16th centuries. Along with these classic Thai ingredients the evolving recipes benefited from the introduction of garlic, onion, lemongrass, galangal, pungent kaffir lime and Krachai. We have selected the best and most refined cooking of Thai cuisine; through the Mai Siam range we bring you the flavours of Thailand in your own kitchen as you would taste them in the country itself. We hope you enjoy cooking with our Mai Siam range, where the taste of Thai cuisine truly comes alive.”

Wing Yip Offers True Taste of Malaysia (1st Oct 2006)
Wing Yip Offers True Taste of Malaysia
Wing Yip customers will have the chance to experience the true taste of Malaysia this autumn with free live cookery demonstrations at the company's superstores. Run by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the events will take place on 14-15 October 2006 at the Wing Yip Centre in Croydon, 25-26 November at Wing Yip in Birmingham and 9-10 December 2006 at the Manchester superstore. Visitors can also sample the food which will be prepared onsite, participate in the cooking demonstrations and free recipe ideas will be distributed on the day. Chef Jenny Cook will prepare a selection of authentic Malaysian dishes including rendang curry, nasi goreng (fried rice) and noodles. Brian Yip, director at Wing Yip plc, said: "We have decided to host the demonstrations for the fourth consecutive year as they always prove extremely popular; since its launch we have seen a marked increase in imports of Malaysian food product. "The sauces and ingredients used by Jenny are available in our stores, enabling shoppers to recreate in their own homes what they have seen and tasted."
Trade Commissioner of MATRADE, Abu Bakar Koyakutty, added: "Wing Yip customers enjoy truly authentic Oriental cuisine and the cooking demonstrations enable us to highlight the delicious flavours of classic Malaysian cooking and the simplicity of making these dishes." Wing Yip is widely recognised as the UK's leading Chinese grocer and each of its four stores in Birmingham, Cricklewood, Croydon and Manchester stock more than 2,500 items from noodles and chop sticks to more diverse items like chicken feet. MATRADE was established in March 1993 as the external trade promotion arm of Malaysia's Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). MATRADE functions as a focal point for Malaysian exporters and foreign importers to source for trade related information. By providing market research information and relevant advice, MATRADE assists Malaysian exporters to better position their products and services in the highly competitive global markets.
